In the era before the convenience of Uber Eats and Doordash, our quest for beer necessitated an actual pilgrimage to the local market. It sounds archaic, doesn't it? Back then, the brave soul who embarked on this mission would rally the troops, we'd pool resources for both the beer and a little extra for their trouble, and that, my friends, was the sacred ritual known as the beer run. Fast forward to today, and yes there are delivery services like uber, but what they don’t do is deliver freshies from breweries. That’s where LIVE LOCL is making a difference by doing beer runs to different regions that include, San Francisco, Oakland, Silicon Valley, Santa Rosa, San Luis Obispo, and Sacramento, with plans to expand to Los Angeles and San Diego soon! Can. Not. Wait. For. That! Each beer run box consists of one or two beers from three to four breweries and are timed to get the freshest and best beers. Frequency is once per month and expanding to twice per month soon.
What can make this experience even more epic, you ask? Well, it's the tantalizing addition of the tastiest foods! LOCL is gearing up to introduce a delectable range of food options you can pair with your beer delivery. Imagine every beer box becoming a gourmet affair, perfectly crafted to tantalize your taste buds. YUM!!!
Our latest Beer Run to Oakland included three stellar breweries and here’s the lowdown on each. First up, Great Notion. Started by three friends in 2016 in Portland, Oregon. They offer hazy, fruit-forward IPAs and “culinary-inspired” sours & stouts. They’ve has won numerous Gold and Silver medals over the years, including the #1 IPA in America from Paste Magazine.
Our second stop was Ghost Town Brewing Launched in 2012 by a group of musicians who have since hung up their instruments to make beer full time now and not a bad choice given that they’re coming off back-to-back gold-medal performances at GABF in 2021 and 2022, plus Brewer of the Year honors.Freshies are release weekly and they're almost always winners.
Finally and this was a last decision, we picked up beers from Hella Coastal Oaklands only black owned brewery! They share a space with Dokkaebier (who also puts out great brews) and JUST release Ice City, which is cooler than a polar bear’s toenails! We will pickup Temascal in the next Oak Run, but given the Ice City release, we had to do it.
